2021 PLANS

2021-01-10

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2020 !!!!!

Happy Solstice. As we approach Perihelion, the point in our orbit where the earth is closest to the sun (That would be January 2nd) I hope everyone had a good 2020. Well, it has been an interesting year.

Someone recently asked if I had been able to travel at all, or if I had any travel plans. I did get to Florida twice to do some SCUBA Diving. Other than that, there has been no real travel since February when I got back from Fiji. I have not even done any long motorcycle trips this summer. I did have a great summer anyway with some local riding and local fun, but that is all personal info that does not get into my posts.

Then THIS happened:

I really don't like the cold. So I planned my escape.

I am hoping to get to Hawaii in January. Hawaii has some restrictions for tourists. Kauai is basically closed right now. The other islands are open, but tourists are required to take a Covid test prior to flying. The current requirement is to take a PCR test from one of their approved facilities no more than 72 hours before boarding the final leg of your flight. You must have the results of the test before you board your flight. If you don't have the results at that point, you will be required to Quarantine for 10 days, even if you receive your negative test results after boarding. That means, if you get the results before you land, or after you are on the island for a few days, you still quarantine. And by quarantine, they mean stay in your room without leaving even for a moment for the 10 days.

That would really suck, unless one had a nice place to stay, and plans to stay in Hawaii for a long time. I bought a one way ticket to the Big Island. That does not mean I will be there forever, it just means I don't know how long. It really depends on how they are treating tourists while I am there. I have not yet made reservations, but there are a few nice resorts that for some reason are devoid of tourists.

I am looking forward to some time in the sun, and more importantly, under the sea.

Then THIS happens. Well, it IS 2020.

See you all in 2021
